Curriculum

Yarralea provides kinder for 3-4 year olds, 4-5 year olds, multiage kinder for 3-5 year olds, bush kinder and holiday programs. All programs are led by degree qualified kindergarten teachers and can access 15 hours funding.  As a mark of respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land, we sought permission in 2006 from the Wurundjeri Land Council to name our programs using Woiwurrung language.

  • Kinder for 3-4 year olds is called Gurrborra (Koala) incl bush kinder on Wednesdays in Term 3

  • Kinder for 4-5 year olds is called Walert (Possum) and Dulai wurrung (Platypus) incl. at least one bush kinder day per week from March

  • Multiage kinder is called Karook Arook (Koala with young) - incorporates children from the above kinder programs

  • Holiday program - Opt in for current kinder children and ex Yarralea children/siblings up to 8 years old.

Yarralea Children's Centre's program is underpinned by the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), the National Quality Standards (NQS) and our Philosophy.  We believe that learning in an indoor / outdoor play-based program enhances children's sense of identity, connectedness, well-being, confidence, thinking and communication. Yarralea's programs are child-centred and emergent. Children's ideas and stories steer the curriculum and construct a learning environment that is meaningful to each individual child.
