FAQS:
• Are children welcome? Absolutely, children considering enrolment and siblings are free to tour and explore the grounds and experiences available on the day.
• Are there any three or four year old spots available? Yes, we actually do have a few spots left in our four year old program right now but three year old program is fully booked with a waiting list. Applications are now open for 3 year old and 4 year old kinder for 2022. Applications need to be made through the City of Yarra. The application form can be found on their website: Kindergarten | Yarra City Council.
• Can we visit the Bush Kinder site? Yes, we will have an opportunity to visit our site at Darebin Parklands and talk to an educator there about the program.
• What is the background of your educators? All programs are led by degree qualified kindergarten teachers and are supported by Diploma and Certificate trained staff.
• What is the structure of the centre? Yarralea is a not for profit community children's centre run by a volunteer committee of management in conjunction with the coordinator and staff. It's an approved childcare centre with a community kindergarten feel that has kinder only programs and kinder programs integrated with childcare.
• Is Bush Kinder just for four year olds? We have a longstanding Bush Kinder program included for both our three and four year old streams at a unique site at Darebin Parkland. Bush Kinder is fully integrated into the 4yo program one day per week 8.30am-4pm from March-December. 3 year olds that attend the Thursday morning session attend from Spring.
• What education experiences are unique to Yarralea? Education for social and environmental sustainability is embedded in daily routines and builds respect and responsibility. Indigenous knowledge and respect is also integral to children’s education.
• How does Yarralea rate under the National Quality Framework (NFQ)? Yarralea Children’s Centre is rated as “Exceeding National Quality Standard” under the National Quality Framework.
• When do first round offers for places go out to parents? Offers will go out sometime in June.
